Year of Inception (Hons.) – 1957

Economics is one of the oldest subjects introduced in this College since the inception with the Honours Course being offered since 1957. The thrust area covered in various projects undertaken by the department includes – (1) The role of self-help groups in various villages (2) The land pattern and land utilization of the rural people (3) Cashew nut production and Cashew processing units (4) The socio-economic condition of the marine fisher men (5) A detailed study of the Contai town, its people and pattern of development.
